suzie serrano
Navigator Intern
Suzie Serrano is a dedicated community leader whose life and career have been guided by resilience, service, and a deep commitment to empowering others.
Originally from the state of Chihuahua, Mexico, Suzie immigrated to the United States in 1992 in pursuit of greater opportunities for her family. Like many immigrant families, she balanced work, education, and the challenge of learning a new language while pursuing her professional goals. Through determination and perseverance, she built a successful small business after relocating to Arkansas in 2005, where she has proudly served the community as a business owner for more than two decades.
Throughout her years in Arkansas, Suzie has become a trusted advocate and respected community leader. Her passion for helping others has led her to connect countless individuals and families with resources, support, and opportunities that improve their quality of life. Her ability to build meaningful relationships and earn the trust of diverse communities has made her a valued voice and collaborator across the state.
Life has also presented Suzie with profound personal challenges, including the heartbreaking loss of two of her children. Rather than allowing those experiences to define her, she transformed them into a renewed commitment to serving others with empathy, compassion, and purpose. Her personal journey has strengthened her belief that every individual deserves dignity, hope, and access to the resources needed to thrive.
Today, Suzie serves as a Navigator Intern and Community Health Worker at Arkansas United, where she works to connect families with essential services, improve access to health and community resources, and help strengthen immigrant and working families across Arkansas. Her lived experience, cultural understanding, and unwavering dedication allow her to build bridges between communities and the organizations that serve them.
Suzie is proud to be part of Arkansas United's mission to empower immigrant communities through advocacy, education, workforce development, and equitable access to opportunity. She believes that lasting change begins by meeting people where they are, listening to their stories, and walking alongside them as they build brighter futures for themselves and their families.
