Meet the AU Staff: Humberto Marquez

Humberto Marquez was born in Zacatecas, Mexico in 1994 and immigrated to California at the age of 6 in the year 2000.  One year later, he moved to Waldron, Arkansas in which he completed his 12 years of public school and graduated with honors from Waldron High School.  After high school, he moved to Fort Smith, in which he started his college journey full of obstacles due to being a DREAMer. After putting up a fight in achieving his dream and receiving outstanding support from his community, he finally completed his bachelor's degree in International Business at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith in December 2016.  He was actively involved at UAFS through the Student Government Association, Phi Beta Lambda, and organizing DREAMers on campus.  Humberto joined the AU staff in June 2014 as West Arkansas Organizer, in which he help serve the River Valley and southwest region of the state.  In 2016, he was promoted to Organizing Director, the position he currently holds. He loves traveling, trying new foods, and attending music festivals.
